CUB-O 2008 - At Sid Richardson Scout Ranch
It’s a fast and FUN orienteering competition at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch. This is an event that teaches your boys to think while hiking in the woods. Map training is held all morning. Lunch in the Dining Hall is included. Family camping is permitted both Friday and Saturday on request. Over 1900 attended each year since 2004!

  Cub Scout Fish-O-Ree at Camp Tahuaya
Keep up to 12 Trout per youth/parent team (6 Trout per person). Cub Scouts get a a day of fishing with a parent, a Trout-O-Ree patch, Prizes, lunch, Trophies, fishing education programs from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Junior Angler Education Program, and a TPWD "Catch a Smile" plastic fish bag.

A weekend of fun and Scoutcraft for Webelos Scouts and their parents at Camp Tahuaya. ACTIVITIES: BB Guns, Archery, Orienteering, Fossil/Geology Hike, Kyle Mtn. Hike, Flag Raising & Lowering, Flint and Steel, Black Powder, String Burning, Wrist Rockets, Canoeing, Fishing, Knots, Handicrafts, Tomahawk/Knife throwing, Climbing, Dodgeball, Campfire Program, Story Hour, and Chapel. Cub Scout Rocket Academy
A weekend of fun for the whole family at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch! This is the first annual Rocket Academy. Fun for your entire Pack. Fee includes lunch, cost for rockets, BB, Archery, Games, Supper, and Campfire. For an extra fee Cub Scouts can participate in the Haunted Hayride.

Units with adults who can give part of their day as staff or as roving costume characters in commercial costumes (from popular recent space movies) should contact Travis Babcock, bsatbabcock@aol.com.

Spring Orienteering Competition
Two events in one: (1) group map hikes, and (2) individual & team competitions. Everyone can enter: families, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, adults, ROTC units, and the public. Choose from 7 map courses from beginner to expert. This is an official U.S. Orienteering Federation event, co-sponsored by the Longhorn Council and the North Texas Orienteering Associationn. At Sid Richardson Scout Ranch.

A weekend of Wild West fun for the whole family at Camp Tahuaya. Archery, BBs, Climbing Wall, Scavenger Hunt, Crafts, Campfire program, Nature hikes, Outdoor games, Chapel, Special Displays, dining hall meals, and More!! Siblings welcome.
Camp Tahuaya is one mile from exit/mile 289 on Interstate 35 near Temple/Belton.

For every 3 days an Instructor runs a range at day camp, district, & council events they get one Range Officer Certificate from the camping registrar and can use the certificates to run BB and Archery programs at a Council camp for their Pack. This class is sponsored by the Cub Scout Day Camp Committee and the Activities Committee.

Council Annual Banquet and Annual Business Meeting
The banquet will feature the great accomplishments of the volunteers in the Longhorn Council. Special presentations will include the Silver Beaver Awards given for outstanding service to youth in the Longhorn Council.
Silver Beaver Award Nomination forms are due in one of the council office by 5PM on March 1st.

The 2008 Longhorn Council Scout Show is designed to showcase Scouting to the community while giving Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venture Crews and Explorer Posts the opportunity to raise money for spring and summer activities.

On May 3 and 10, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM the Longhorn Council's Districts will present the best their Packs, Troops, Crews and Posts have to offer to the communities of our Council as they demonstrate and display the fun and learning activities of Scouting.

Cub Scout Day Camps - Pirates 2008
You can count on a FUN-filled outdoor program at your district Cub Scout Day Camp!! We’ll have outdoor programs not regularly found in Den or Pack activities, such as BB gun safety & shooting, archery, hiking, swimming, and outdoor skills, as well as Crafts, Games, and Advancement. Schedule TBA.

Cub Scout Resident Camp 2008
Bring outdoor camping excitement and Galactic Fun to your Cub Scout summer!! Water battles, Balloon battles, BB Shooting, Archery, Rock-Climbing on our cool Mobile Climbing Wall, plus Swimming, Rowing, and Canoeing. All tents, dining hall meals, and program supplies provided.
