The Longhorn Council International Committee serves as the Longhorn Council Representatives for the International Scouting Programs.  In cooperation with the council leadership, the council international representative/committee sets up a communications and organizational plan that will make it possible to keep the council membership informed of the opportunities for program enrichment in the area of international Scouting.  Shown below are some of the major programs of the committee and the members who volunteered to serve as either LEAD or Point of Contact (POC).

In the event the Committee Member serving as the LEAD or POC cannot be reached, please contact the Committee Chairman Tom Lucas at thomaslucas@sbcglobal.net or the Council Professional Kevin Steffy at KSteffy@longhorn.org.

Jamboree-on-the-Air, or JOTA, is an annual Scouting and amateur radio event sponsored by the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.  JOTA is an event in which Boy and Girl Scouts and Guides from all over the world speak to each other by means of Amateur (ham) Radio. Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared via radio waves. Since 1958 when the first Jamboree-on-the-Air was held, millions of Scouts have met each other through this event. Many contacts made during JOTA have resulted in pen pals and links between Scout troops that have lasted many years.
