America's Spirit - Be Prepared Council Camporee

Texas Motor Speedway hosts the “America’s Future- Be Prepared” Council Camporee over the weekend of November 14-15-16, 2008. The program is packed with over 100 challenging events and competitions to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Scouting, plus Scottish Highland Games, living history, military, government, and commercial displays, spectacular demonstrations, exciting shows and more. ... PROGRAMS: Venturing Road to Ranger Camp, two SR2 F-16 aviation simulator weeks with 16 networked F16 flight Simulator cockpits, Area 51 SWAT Team (paintball vs. aliens), Cowboy Action Shooting, new Covert Ops facility, Sea Kayaking overnighters, Tahuaya Fly Fishing, and more. ADULT LEADERS: one Road to Ranger Camp adult leader free for every 9 participants a Crew also sends to Chisholm Trail, Steele island, or the Brazos River Canoe Trip 50-miler. FEES: 2008 Fees for early signup by September 15th.

Road to Ranger Venturing Camp

July 5-11 at SR2. Venturers can earn the Outdoor Bronze Award and complete most of the core requirements for the Ranger Award. Featuring wind surfing, horsemanship, rifle and shotgun shooting, wilderness survival, first aid, archery, COPE. swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA, US Cavalry 1870's living history, Covert Ops, Area 51 (paintball vs. aliens), orienteering, GPS navigation, KODIAK teambuilding, and much more! Staffed by Longhorn Council Venturing volunteers and the Texas High Adventure Base staff.
