Join us for an inspiring afternoon at the Denton Investment in Character Luncheon, an annual celebration supporting Longhorn Council, Scouting America. This special event brings together community leaders, dedicated volunteers, and supporters of Scouting to recognize outstanding achievements and invest in the next generation of leaders. Your participation helps empower youth in North and Central Texas by funding transformative experiences, leadership development programs, and outdoor adventures that instill values of character, citizenship, and service.
This year, we are honored to recognize Dr. Jamie Wilson with the Investment in Character Award for his outstanding leadership and dedication to public education. With a 34-year career, including 20 years serving Denton ISD, Dr. Wilson has been a driving force in student success, public education advocacy, and community growth. He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from the University of North Texas, a superintendent certification from Texas Woman’s University, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from UNT. Beginning his career as a teacher and coach, he went on to serve in leadership roles in Keller, Aubrey, and Denton ISD. As Superintendent since 2012, he has guided the district through rapid expansion, capital improvement projects, and innovative student initiatives, strengthening educational opportunities, technology integration, and family support services. Dr. Wilson and his wife, Melanie, a retired educator, share a deep commitment to lifelong learning and community service, along with their two daughters.
